Datamolino alternative: line items, statements and Zoho Books

Datamolino is a solid, well-reviewed capture tool with approvals on every plan. Its listed prices exclude line items and its allowance doesn't roll over. When Invoreg AI fits better, and when it doesn't.

2026-10-07 · Invoreg

Datamolino deserves its reviews. It reads invoices well, includes multi-stage approvals on every plan, detects duplicates and hosts data in Ireland. If you're on Xero or QuickBooks and need header capture with approvals, it's a strong choice. This page covers where it differs from Invoreg AI.

Facts are as of 7 October 2026, taken from each vendor's public pages. Sources are listed at the end.

Datamolino's pricing

Practice plans (unlimited companies and users):

| Plan | Monthly minimum | Per document | Bank statements | |---|---|---|---| | Launch | £39 | £0.26 | £0.60 per page | | Scale | £135 | £0.20 | £0.55 per page | | Expand | £500 | £0.16 | £0.45 per page |

Business plans (one company): £17, £29 and £55 a month for 100, 250 and 500 documents.

Two details matter in practice:

  • The listed prices exclude line-item extraction. Datamolino reads lines on plans that include it, but its pricing page says the prices shown are "without line-item extraction".
  • Unused allowance doesn't roll over from month to month.

Where Invoreg AI fits better

  • You code invoices line by line. Lines are part of the price.
  • You reconcile from PDF statements. One credit covers up to three statement pages, and payments are matched to invoices, not just turned into rows.
  • Your volume is seasonal. Prepaid credits last a year, so a quiet summer doesn't waste a monthly allowance.
  • You're on Zoho Books.

Where Datamolino is the better choice

  • You're on Xero, QuickBooks Online or FreeAgent today.
  • You mostly need the header, at high volume. From £0.16 per document on the Expand plan, Datamolino is cheaper per document than Invoreg AI.
  • You prefer month-to-month billing to prepaid packs.

How to decide

Look at last month's invoices. If most needed line-by-line coding, compare on line-item prices. If most were one-line bills, compare on header prices. Then book a demo and check both on your own documents.
