Dext (formerly Receipt Bank) is the best-known name in receipt and invoice capture, and for many firms it works well. People look for an alternative for three reasons: the add-ons that turn a simple plan into a bigger bill, per-client pricing for practices, and data questions. This page sets out what Dext costs today and where Invoreg AI is a better or worse fit.
Facts are as of 7 October 2026, taken from each vendor's public pages. Sources are listed at the end. Tell us if something has changed.
What Dext costs today
For a single business, Dext lists one plan: £290 a year (US$302.50), excluding tax. It includes 250 documents a month and five users. Each month you also get 10 bank-statement sheets, 5 line-item documents and 5 supplier statements free. Beyond those, each is an add-on:
| Add-on (UK) | Price | |---|---| | Line items | from £16.50 a month, or £0.40 per document | | Supplier statements | from £16.50 a month, or £0.40 per document | | Bank statements | from £10 a month, or £0.25 per document |
For accounting practices, Dext's partner plans are priced per client per month, with a minimum of ten clients. Per-client prices are not published on the pricing page.
Where Invoreg AI differs
Every line, on every invoice, included. Invoreg AI reads the header and every line with its VAT and proposes the account code per line. There is no line-item add-on.
Bank statements cost the same as invoices. One credit covers an invoice or a bank statement of up to three pages. Invoreg AI reads the statement, even a PDF or scan, and matches each payment to the invoices it settles.
Pay per document, not per client. Prepaid packs cost €0.33 to €0.40 per document. One credit pool covers every company you run, with unlimited users and no minimum client count. A business with 100 invoices a month uses one Medium and one Small pack: €460 a year, lines included. There's a one-off setup fee from €199, and the first 20 invoices are free. See pricing.
One queue for every company. Accounting firms review all pending documents across all clients in one list, with approvals, comments and role permissions.
Processed in the EU, never used for training. Dext's DPA names AWS Ireland as its active EU location, with some US sub-processors. Invoreg AI processes every document in the EU and does not train models on customer documents.
Where Dext is the better choice
- Your accounting software isn't Zoho Books yet. Dext publishes to more than 36 systems, including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent. Invoreg AI posts into Zoho Books today. Xero and QuickBooks Online are planned, and other systems can use an XML/CSV import file or the API.
- You need expense claims from staff with a mobile app, sales-invoice capture, or payments. Dext launched payments for UK Xero users in February 2026.
- You want a long track record. Dext has been refining supplier rules for more than a decade.
How to decide
- Take ten real invoices: one long one, one phone photo, one from a new supplier.
- Run them through both trials.
- Count the fields you corrected and the lines you coded by hand.
- Price your real monthly volume, including the add-ons you'd actually use.
