Autoscan is free with Zoho Books and it reads invoices. So why would a firm pay per invoice for something else? The honest answer is: for some firms, it wouldn't. This page is meant to make that call quickly. Zoho facts are from its public pages on 26 September 2026; Invoreg facts are from our own product.

Where Autoscan is the right answer
A sole practitioner with eight clients on Standard plans, none receiving more than 150 invoices a month, mostly two- or three-line documents. Autoscan reads them, the bookkeeper codes the lines in under a minute each, the allowance never runs out. Adding a tool would add a login. Keep Autoscan.
Where it stops fitting
Three signals, any one of which is usually enough.
The queue is in forty places. Once a firm has more client organisations than one person can check daily, the question "what is pending?" has no single answer in Zoho Books. Invoreg's one queue is the reason firms with 20+ clients switch, more than any AI feature.
Coding takes longer than typing did. A long invoice, scanned or not, still needs every line matched to an account. When the same vendor's lines are coded the same way every month, proposing the coding from history removes most of the work; that is what turns 20 minutes into 2.
A client hits the allowance. The Free plan's 50 scans go quickly for a retailer. Either the client buys add-ons that expire, or the firm keys the overflow by hand. Per-invoice pricing pooled across the firm removes the budget conversation.
What Invoreg costs, worked
Forty clients, 1,500 supplier invoices a month in total: 1,500 × €0.35 = €525 a month, plus €10 per user per month on the firm plan for five reviewers, so €575 excluding VAT. Against that, at four minutes per invoice keyed by hand and €28 an hour, manual entry costs about €2,800 a month in bookkeeper time. The calculator uses your own numbers; the pricing page has the plan details.
The test that settles it
Take the same ten invoices, including a long one, through Autoscan and through Invoreg. Time each from upload to a bill you would sign off, coding included. Note what you corrected. Then decide. Book a demo and we will run the Invoreg half with you.
